Biological Design - Center of Gravity

If you are going to consider creating creatures, you should consider their physical balance and center of gravity. Some very important details such as center of gravity are different in human men and woman, and this displacement of the center of gravity between the sexes is exactly what develops characteristically "feminine" and "masculine" qualities.

Why are boys clumsier than girls and fall down more often? Center of gravity. Since the male center of gravity is higher, and young boys are designed to test the limits of their physical prowess, they tend to get hurt more often because they are learning where their center of gravity is as they are growing.

Why are women harder to knock over than men? Center of gravity. During adulthood, men's bodies are not expected to dramatically fluctuate in weight. A woman's body is expected to dramatically and gracefully account for sudden changes in weight. This is because of pregnancy. A woman has a much lower center of gravity than a man simply because a woman is biologically designed to carry children for 9 months, with weight changing from day 1 until day 270, all the while not tripping and falling which might injure the child.

This simple side effect of our biological design is the source of grace in women and clumsiness in men, both inherently "feminine" and "masculine" respectively. It is far more important than people think.

This small, overlooked concept often plays a very important role in how we use our bodies to interact with the physical world. A man and a woman both feel and sense the world different due to the shape and build of their bodies. This is why some cultures found it perfectly natural to have male and female warriors, because our bodies are designed to complement each other though they are different in design details.

So what is the Center of Gravity?
