Here is a list of plants and nature vocabulary that I have found very useful in my design purposes for naming places or things.
Atoll - A circular coral reef or string of coral islands that surround a lagoon.
Chinese parsley (coriander) - An herb used by the ancient Chinese for medicinal purposes. It was eaten to relieve indigestion and made into lotion to bathe patients with measels.
Garlic - An herb used by the ancient Chinese to treat colds, whooping cough, and other illnesses.
Fodder - The feed grown for livestock.
Hemp - A plant with tough fibers tha can be woven into fabric and rope.
Monsoon winds - WInds that change direction with the season.
Resin - A thick, waterproof, sticky substance obtained from some plants and trees.
Saguaro - A giant desert cactus with a sweet red fruit.
Tundra - A treeless area with permanently frozen subsoil that lies between the ice of the Arctic and the timber line of North America and Eurasia.
Yucca - An indigenous plant used by Native Americans. The chewed stem made an excellent paintbrush.
